SuperCard has a variety of products that can be helpful in different ways. Browse the FAQ section below to get some assistance with information around our various card offerings.
Spar shoppers supercard

This card is a pin-protected day-to-day shopping card that enables you to load funds by making a deposit with cash or a traditional bank card at till points in a participating SPAR. This assists people who rely on shopping with cash but are looking for a secure way to store funds that can be accessed for shopping at SPAR.
The initial sign-up fee is a once-off activation cost of R35. An annual renewal fee of R20 is deducted each year thereafter.
Visit your local Spar store and enquire about SuperCard and the available card types. When you are certain that the promoter has addressed your queries and you have selected the card type you would like to register for, ask an in-store rep or promoter to sign you up at the SuperCard kiosk.
Have your cell number, ID number and address details available. Provide your full name and surname upon registration. Select a unique pin-code for your Spar Shoppers SuperCard.
The Spar Shoppers SuperCard is ideal for day-to-day shopping all year round. Whether you are shopping for yourself, your family or an organisation, having a dedicated shopping card for your local SPAR store can assist you in managing household or organisational shopping budgets, where a traditional banking card is unfavourable due to elevated costs of transacting. The SPAR Shopper SuperCard has unlimited deposits and purchases with no transaction fees.
Spar Shoppers SuperCard assists in securing cash related shopping funds into a pin-protected electronic shopping card, with deposits up to R25000 per month permitted.
To load funds on your Spar Shoppers SuperCard, simply visit your local Spar store where you registered for your card and make a cash or card deposit at the nearest till point by instructing the cashier to deposit the funds onto your Spar Shoppers SuperCard. Make sure to have your unique pin-code on hand. Keep your deposit slips for record of proof of deposits.
If you have a lost or damaged card you can request a card replacement at the local SPAR where you originally registered the card. With some security verification all your existing funds will be transferred to your new card. A card replacement costs R35.
Some Spar Shoppers SuperCard’s are only able to transact at the store that you registered at, these cards will normally have the store name on the card. Other cards may be open to transact across multiple stores around the country, to find out where you can transact, it’s best to ask your local store if the card is open or closed community? Most of the SPAR outlets that are partnered with SuperCard have activated the capability to transact at TOPS as well as SPAR.
Ask a friendly SPAR team member to check your card balance, this can be done in-store at the tills or via a SuperCard kiosk. You can also download the SuperCard Mobile App and link your card to check your balances >>Download APP<<
If you have not used your SuperCard for over 3 years it will be set to a dormant inactive state, you can reactivate your card by calling our Toll Free Support on 0800 333 991.
You can request a statement by sending a copy of your ID and a copy of your card (clearly showing the card number) to support@supercard.co.za
It is best practice to keep all your deposit and payment slips, you can do a balance check in-store and you can also request a statement from the SuperCard support team at 0800 333 991.Â
Shopping frequently with cash can pose risks, if you lose cash you can’t easily recover it. If you choose to deposit some of your SPAR grocery shopping funds into a Shoppers card, you have the benefit of pin-code protection as well as the ability to recover your account and funds if you ever lose your card. Many SPAR retailers as well as SuperCard offer seasonal promotions and giveaways, by using your Shoppers card you get automatic entry to these promotions.
Ask the friendly SPAR employees at your local SPAR to assist you with a PIN change, you will need to access the mobile phone number linked to your SuperCard in order to verify a One-Time-Pin (OTP) via SMS. You can also download the SuperCard Mobile App and link your card to do a pin change >>Download APP<<
The SPAR Shoppers SuperCard has unlimited free deposit and payment transactions at the till 🙂
SuperCard charges a monthly admin fee of only R2 for all cards that were registered before 2024. This is to provide a toll free support line, SMS messages such as OTP security verification, a convenient Mobile APP and to keep unlimited deposits and payments free to the cardholder.
SuperCard charges an annual renewal fee of R20 for all cards that were registered after 2023. This is to provide a toll free support line, SMS messages such as OTP security verification, a convenient Mobile APP and to keep unlimited deposits and payments free to the cardholder. The new annual renewal fee introduced in 2024 is more cost effective than the previous R2 per month admin fee. Any cards replaced after 2023 will have changed from a monthly admin fee of R2 and will now enjoy a R20 annual renewal fee model which is effectively 17% more cost effective.
Spar sTOKVEL supercard

This card is a pin-protected festive savings card that enables you to load funds by making a deposit with cash or a traditional bank card at till points in a participating SPAR. This assists people who are looking to save funds for spend in the festive season but prefer a secure way to store the funds, this card profile allows you to deposit funds all year but you can only make purchases between the 15th of November and the 15th of February each year at your local SPAR.
The initial sign-up fee is a once-off activation cost of R35. An annual renewal fee of R20 is deducted each year thereafter.

Spar GIFT supercard

This card is a non pin-protected electronic card for funds that can be used for gifting, you don’t need to register for the card. Simply ask your local SPAR for the card and load any amount of your choosing.
The SPAR Gift SuperCard does not cost anything, you can load any amount to the card up to R25 000 on the first deposit. The card can be reloaded for a small admin fee of R2 per month, the card will deemed to be reloaded on any second deposit made into the card.
Visit your local SPAR store and ask for a SPAR Gift SuperCard. You don’t need to register for this particular card.
The Spar Gift SuperCard is ideal for giving somebody a flexible gift, it allows the recipient to choose what they would like to purchase at their local SPAR. The gift card offering can also be used for corporate or business settings as an employee reward or incentive or for other similar situations.
To load funds on your Spar Gift SuperCard, simply visit your local SPAR store where you registered for your card and make a cash or card deposit at the nearest till point by instructing the cashier to deposit the funds onto your Spar Gift SuperCard. Make sure to have your unique pin-code on hand. Always keep your deposit slips for record of proof of deposit.
If you have lost or damaged your SPAR Gift SuperCard, you may be able to recover the funds if you have retained your till slips as proof of deposit.
